Podcast

I took the opportunity to use the podcast assignment to teach my students how to do a formal interview in front of a green screen.  They watched the process of setting up the set, lights, and completing a mic check.  After recording the interviews, which they observed, I taught them how to use finalcutpro to edit the interviews and use chroma keying with the green screen.  It was a great way to produce content with a purpose in mind.

  2. Bravo, Bravo!!

WOW! I thought your video podcast was awesome. I was waiting to see an example before I put mine together, and I was not expecting to see a video! I am a little uncertain of this at the moment! My students permission slips did not come back on time. So I asked a couple teachers if their child could help me out and they said yes but we had mic difficulty. So I am trying to hunt a couple volunteers to read what they answered! It may just be my voice. Hopefully I will get as good at this as you are. I am going to experiment with podcasts more often now. I would love to create a video podcast for my students.. I love that you have the green screen. The students seemed intrigued to be part of this project! I teach third to fifth grade so my podcast will not be as elaborate and we do not have a green screen. A student I interviewed mentioned that the smartboard is really being used as a projector mostly in their classroom. Another student who has an older teacher stated that the only technology used in their room is when the morning announcements are shown that the communication club created. These students are taught how to put it on the drive so all teachers can show the morning announcements when they are ready. This teacher also shows the broadcasts where three fifth graders get to ask the principal three questions and they talk about the months events coming up! He mentioned that they do a lot of worksheets. It is disappointing to have such technology at our finger tips and find out that it is not being used to its full potential, especially when there are educators who cannot have this technology due to budget constraints. I like that their is someone experienced to turn for help!

Again bravo on a great podcast!

    1. Thank you for the kind words! This assignment was right up my alley. I work with this type of equipment on a daily basis. I was going to do an audio only podcast at first, but 3 of my students are producing an original song right now using our snowball mic and I didn't want to ask them to stop. Also, I was lucky to not have to do permission slips because I have parents complete a release form at the beginning of the year because we post our shows online. I am sure your podcast is going to be awesome!
